Sandi Tomlin-Sutker sandi@wncwoman.com.

The mission of Western North Carolina Woman is to celebrate the inherent strength, wisdom, and grace of women. Our print publication and the resources available on our website provide a hub through which women can be interconnected, interdependent, and interactive. Articles and columns will focus on creative problem solving and the sharing of ideas, information, inspiration, and joy. Women can be isolated by barriers of time and space (commitments and geography). WNC Woman provides a means to transcend those barriers.

We envision that the collective wisdom of this gathering of women will enliven individual spirit and creative energy to support personal growth and expansion, and serve as a catalyst for positive change for the whole community.

I always seem to need two different projects at once. While in graduate school in Political Science in the 80's, I helped my husband grow a wholesale clothing business. Then I started a retail clothing store in 1991 (sold it in 1997) and began another business, a retail home furnishing store in 1995 and later an e-commerce site. I sold that business in 2004 so I could devote full time to WNC WOMAN. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to share my writing and bring the voices of many women to you.

I took a leap of faith in 1997 and moved from Washington DC to Asheville with my dog Cricket* to launch my Web design business - Handwoven Webs. [See more about me on my Handwoven Webs site] My love of the interplay of words and pictures and my passion for "weaving webs" of people and ideas led me to take another leap of faith in 2002 and launch WNC WOMAN with my friend Sandi Tomlin-Sutker. *Three precious dogs: Anna, Freya, and Charley have now come into my life.
